Thanksgiving and being busy

Thanksgiving had been quiet, but very nice. I spend it with friends at Club Hood for the Thanksgiving dinner and of course I had way too much food! Iggy got his share, I took a little turkey with me home:) oh boy did he gobbled it up like a vacuum cleaner.

The evening I spend planning and making dog toys and knitting. Oh and browsing for leftover turkey recipes online. Have to prepare when hubby comes home;)
I also plan on cooking more casseroles, which I can also freeze and we will bake when we are too lazy too cook. Kind of a new Years resolution. Not to spend money eating in restaurants.
Allrecipes.com and tasteofhome.com had been a wonderful recourse for me.
And my daily tipnut emails.

Ah, I started weaving and I am totally in love...so tomorrow I am running off to get my first loom. It is a small one from Schacht the Cricket, perfect for scarves:)

Surfing through ravelry something else caught my eye, but that has to wait a couple more....years...

weaving class

Yesterday I signed up for a class in Austin at Hill Country Weavers:) For weaving. I am for a long time interested in learning how to weave and I always wondered if it would be possible to weave a scarf on an itty bitty weaving harp, apparently it is...the yarn will be lenghtwise rolled...it is still not easy to imagine for me, but I will learn...I see myself acquiring a new hobby and buy myself a harp. But if one for the table, not a huge one for making clothes and such...
Well, driving such a long distance is always giving me a big headache, today I was paying the bill for my trip yesterday, but oh well..I am looking forward to my class in November and planning on which yarns I am going to use from my stash:))

So I am almost done with my baby afghan and I am quite happy how it turned out:)
I am thinking about the next style log cabin baby blankie, we will see. I still have some yarn left, maybe I will have to get another skein, I will weigh the leftovers when I am finished.

Yesterday night a stomache bug hit me and most of the day I was in bed, much to dismay of my little pooper Iggybear...
But he was a good bear, I let him out once in a while, although he was very disappointed I didn't play with him:(. He survived it.
Today was a quiet day for us also, I was able to have some chicken soup and a slice of bread and felt much better, played a little with Iggy, but not nearly enough as he always wants. Boston Terriers!

Oh I just unwrapped my new Keurig coffee machine:)
I longed for sooo long for a nice coffee machine, I think over ten years now:)
I know I know, it sounds kind of stupid...
I was first thinking getting a senseo, but decided against it.
So I got a Keurig. It reminded me a bit of the coffee machine my mom has and we love it...I think it is called Caffissimo in Germany. I also like about it, that I can get a basket and fill my own coffee with it. We will see how that works out and if it is not a too big mass. Definetely a special treat for myself...

a slow Saturday

I decided to open a new blog, I wasn't too happy with myblog for some time...
So lets hope I get out of the slumps and blog more with blogspot:)
knittingwise I am making right now a log cabin baby blanket from the Mason Dixon book...
I changed a bit the numbers of stitches, wide and lengthwise...because I am just using different yarns.
In fact I am using I love this yarn 100% Acrylic and I am super happy with it for this project...
It will be probably a gift, and the mom can just throw it in the wash with not many headaches...
And it is soft, very soft.
Usually I prefer naturally fibers, but in that case and people I don't know, I think it is the best solution.

Of course I have to write also a little bit about Iggy...
I ordered from a health pet store deer hooves to munch on for my Iggy and he is going nuts over them:)
The hooves are smelling pleasant, compared to the hooves you can get at the local petstores...Downside is that they seem to go much faster, Iggy almost ate half in 8 hours. So they must be much softer, or he is just impressed by this wonderful taste
